Baramulla in Kashmir was hit with two back-to-back earthquakes on Tuesday, causing widespread alarm throughout the Valley. There have been no reports of fatalities or property damage. The first quake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale, hit at 6:45 am with its epicenter located in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. It occurred at a depth of 5 km with coordinates 34.17°N latitude and 74.16°E longitude. Shortly after, a second earthquake of magnitude 4.8 struck at 6:52 am, also centered in Baramulla. This quake occurred at a depth of 10 km with coordinates 34.20°N latitude and 74.31°E longitude.
