Holenarasipura JD(S) MLA HD Revanna, currently facing charges in a kidnapping case related to the ‘obscene video’ scandal, was released from Parappana Agrahara Jail on Tuesday.

This release followed the grant of conditional bail by a special court comprising representatives from the public on Monday. The judge set a bail bond of Rs 5 lakh for Revanna, according to ANI.

During the proceedings in the special court, Revanna’s defense counsel argued that the woman, upon her rescue, had not mentioned being kidnapped at the MLA’s behest.

The court requested the state prosecutors to provide information regarding statements made by the victim to the police or magistrate. Notably, the court observed that while the victim’s statements implicated Revanna’s son Prajwal in sexual assault, they did not implicate Revanna himself in the kidnapping of the victim, as per the information sourced from PTI.

HD Revanna was taken into custody on May 4, after his arrest by SIT officials in connection with a kidnapping case filed against him at Bengaluru’s KR Nagar police station. He was later remanded to judicial custody until May 14, relating to the ‘obscene video’ kidnapping case.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government established an SIT to investigate allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation against HD Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, prompted by a complaint from a former household employee.

Facing accusations under Sections 364A, 365, and 34 of the IPC, HD Revanna and his associate Babanna were listed as accused numbers one and two, respectively, in the FIR filed by KR Nagar police.

HD Revanna dismissed the charges as a “political conspiracy” against him, highlighting his four-decade-long political career devoid of such allegations. Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna remain under scrutiny by the SIT amid ongoing investigations into the accusations of sexual harassment and intimidation.

A woman employed in Prajwal’s household has leveled allegations of sexual harassment against the MP and his father, JD(S) MLA and former minister HD Revanna. Additionally, another individual has accused HD Revanna of involvement in the kidnapping of his mother, who worked at Revanna’s farmhouse. Following the filing of a case against Prajwal Revanna, reports indicate that he has fled the country and remains at large. A Blue Corner notice has been issued globally to locate him.

Prajwal Revanna, who represents Hassan in the Parliament, is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and the son of JDS MLA HD Revanna. HD Revanna himself has been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping linked to his son’s sexual harassment case. Furthermore, HD Kumaraswamy, the younger brother of HD Revanna, is also implicated in this complex situation.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has confirmed three arrests in this case, including HD Revanna and his associate Satish Babanna. However, the identity of the third accused remains undisclosed to avoid compromising the ongoing investigation.
