Pahalgam attack: Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao launched a sharp attack on PM Modi, alleging that he has used tragic incidents like the 2019 Pulwama and 2002 Gujarat riots to win elections, and is now leveraging the Pahalgam terror attack to win upcoming Bihar polls.

“…What Congress wanted to say was – where is Mr Modi, is he addressing the media? Is he clarifying anything? Can people ask him what has happened?” he told the news agency ANI.

Rao added, “Pulwama helped him in his Lok Sabha elections, Godhra helped him in his Gujarat elections, and now he is using it for Bihar elections,” before saying, “You should think of the country first. This is why the poster was put out. We want him to come and talk to the people.”

His remarks come after the Congress party shared a “Gayab” post targeting PM Modi with the caption, “Zimmedari ke samay – Gayab [Missing at the time of responsibility].”

“We hope that our demand for a special session will be fulfilled…PM Modi was not present at the all-party meeting. We demanded on 22nd April that the all-party meeting should be held on this issue…PM Modi should participate in the discussions in Parliament and tell us what happened and how this terrorist attack took place. There is no political agenda. The Congress has only one formula- Unity…,” said Congress MP Jairam Ramesh.

BJP slams Congress

“It is concerning that, being a national party, Congress has turned to Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress with its double standards. The Congress is facing flak for sharing a headless image of the PM of India at a time when the PM gave a strong message to Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism. The Congress shared such an image because ‘sar tan se juda’ (head separated from body) is their ideology,” BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said while speaking to reporters in Delhi.

BJP’s Amit Malviya, too, lashed out at Congress for their “gayab” post. “The Congress leaves little doubt with its use of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ imagery. This is not merely a political statement; it is a dog whistle aimed at its Muslim vote bank and a veiled incitement against the Prime Minister,” he wrote on X.

Malviya added, “It is not the first time Congress has resorted to such tactics. Rahul Gandhi, on multiple occasions, has both instigated and justified violence toward the Prime Minister. Yet the Congress will never succeed, for the Prime Minister enjoys the love and blessings of millions of Indians. On the contrary, proverbially speaking, if anyone’s neck has been slashed, it is the Congress, now reduced to a headless hydra, flailing without direction.”

Leader of the Opposition of Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has written to PM Modi yesterday to convene a special session of both Houses of Parliament in light of the recent terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people.

“The terrorist attack in Pahalgam has outraged every Indian. At this critical time, India must show that we will always stand together against terrorism. The opposition believes that a special session of both Houses of Parliament should be convened, where the representatives of the people can show their unity and determination,” the letter said.

It added, “We request that such a special session be convened at the earliest.”
