Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has claimed that she was slapped and abused by a woman CISF security personnel at the Mohali International Airport in Chandigarh. In a statement issued on social media shortly after the incident, Kangana said that she was safe but was concerned at the “rising militancy and terrorism in Punjab”.

“I am safe and perfectly fine. The incident that occurred at the Chandigarh airport happened during the security check. As soon as I left after the security check, the security personnel of the CISF in the other cabin waited for me to cross her and then hit me on the face from my side and started to abuse me. When I asked her why she did it she said that she supports the farmers’ protest. I am safe but my concern is that the terrorism and militancy that is rising in Punjab… How do we handle that?” Kangana said.

According to news agency ANI, a constable-rank CISF officer allegedly slapped Kangana at Chandigarh Airport during a frisking argument. An inquiry committee comprising senior CISF officers has been set up to conduct a further investigation, ANI said citing sources.

In a video that emerged later, the security personnel was seen claiming that Kangana had passed untoward remarks about the women who participated in the farmers’ protest and that her mother was one of them.

“She gave a statement that the farmers are sitting there for Rs 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement…,” the CISF was quoted as saying.

As per The Indian Express, the lady constable claimed during questioning that Kangana Ranaut passed disrespectful comments to all the women of Punjab during the farmers’ agitation. Kangana said she would file a complaint with the MHA.

The CISF has placed the lady constable under suspension and lodged a formal complaint with the local police for the purpose of registering an FIR in relation to the case.

Kangana was declared the winner from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in the results declared on Tuesday. She defeated her Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh by a margin of over 74,000 votes.
