Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren is in a critical condition and has been put on life support, PTI reported. The minister is under continuous observation and is being closely monitored by a team of multidisciplinary senior specialists in Delhi. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader was airlifted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital from Jamshedpur on Saturday after he slipped and fell in the washroom at his residence.
Ministers visit Soren
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren visited the hospital to check on Ramdas Soren’s condition. He also spoke with the doctors to get updates on the treatment and posted on X, “Respected Ramdas Da has been a leading warrior of the Jharkhand movement. Through struggle, he has always overcome every challenge, and this time too, he will emerge victorious. May Marang Buru grant strength and courage to him.”
Jharkhand’s health and family welfare minister Irfan Ansari also visited Ramdas Soren at the hospital and said that he has sustained a brain injury and a blood clot due to a fall in the bathroom. He said in a post on X, “The news of Jharkhand’s Education Minister…being unwell is deeply concerning. He has sustained a brain injury and blood clot due to a fall in the bathroom…I am continuously monitoring his condition. I appeal to all of you for your prayers. I pray to God that he recovers quickly.”
‘Brave soldier of JMM’
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha wrote on X, “The brave soldier of JMM and the education minister of the state government, Ramdas Soren Ji, is undergoing treatment in Delhi. The struggle, dedication, and service spirit of respected Ramdas ji are a source of inspiration for us all.”
Union Minister Arjun Munda, also a senior BJP leader and former Jharkhand CM, said that Soren suffered the brain haemorrhage due to the sudden increase in pressure.
Ministries reassigned
The Jharkhand government has temporarily reassigned ministerial responsibilities during the Monsoon Session due to Education Minister Ramdas Soren’s ongoing health issues. Sudivya Kumar Sonu, the Urban Development, Housing, and Higher Education Minister, will now address all Assembly questions concerning the School Education and Literacy Department, previously managed by Ramdas Soren.
Additionally, Deepak Birua will handle legislative questions for the Registration, Law, Information and Public Relations, and Information Technology departments, which are typically overseen by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Both ministers will retain their original portfolios while also answering all types of Assembly questions for their temporarily assigned departments.
