In the wake of the Jat agitation that will be taking place from tomorrow at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, the metro services in NCR are said to be suspended by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). According to a report in the Indian Express, a DMRC statement said, “As directed by Delhi Police, Metro services will not be available at all stations outside Delhi (NCR stations), on Line-2 (Guru Dronacharya to Huda City Centre), Line 3 and 4 (Kaushambi to Vaishali and Noida Sector 15 to Noida City Centre) and on Line 6 (Sarai to Escorts Mujesar) from 11.30 pm on Sunday onwards till further instructions. Services to these stations will resume only after getting clearance from Delhi Police.”

The over all services of the metro will be suspended post 11:30 PM today, but according to metro officials, 12 Metro stations in Delhi will remain shut from 8 pm until further directions. These 12 stations include- Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg on the Yellow line; Janpath, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, R K Ashram Marg, Pragati Maidan on the Blue line; Khan Market on the Violet line and Shivaji Stadium on Orange line. Entry and exit points at these station will remain shut.

The demands behind the agitations includes taking back the cases that were registered against the youth during the agitation last year and demand for reservation that have still not been met by the government. Roads are likely to be blocked near the border of the national capital, while the protesters are planning a protest at the Parliament complex tomorrow.
