The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the low pressure area over west central Bay of Bengal will intensify into a deep depression off Andhra Pradesh coast on Thursday morning. As a result of this, coastal Odisha and West Bengal will receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. The Met office has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas.

The light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till November 18. It also advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea and return to the coast who are out at sea.

A look at the weather conditions across several states:- 

  • Delhi: Delhi will remain mainly clear sky today with a shallow fog in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 27 and 11 degrees Celsius respectively. On Wednesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures settled at 28.9 and 12.4 degrees Celsius respectively. 
  • West Bengal, Sikkim: Kolkata will experience cloudy sky today. The rain or thundershower is very likely to occur later in the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are most likely to be around 29 and 22 degrees Celsius respectively. Meanwhile, the dry weather will prevail over Sikkim and all the districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal. 
  • Odisha: The light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, Kandhamal. In addition, the dry weather will prevail over the rest of the state.
  • Tamil Nadu: The light to moderate rain will occur at many places over Coastal Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area; and at a few places over Interior Tamilnadu with thunderstorm and lightning. While, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
