The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued flash flood warning for few watersheds and neighbourhoods of several states including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, South part of East Rajasthan, Gujarat Region and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch Met Sub-divisions during the next 24 hours.

The Met office also issued ‘Orange alert’ for West and East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch, central region of Maharashtra, Andaman and Nicobar Island and West Madhya Pradesh. 

A look at weather conditions of few states:-

  • Delhi: The national capital is likely to experience general cloudy skies with very light rain or drizzle. The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to settle at 34 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
  • Himachal Pradesh: Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is likely to witness thunder with rain. The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to hover around 24 and 16 degrees Celsius. It also predicted thunderstorms and lightning warnings for isolated places.
  • Maharashtra: In Maharashtra, the fairly widespread rainfall is expected to be witnessed over South Konkan, Goa and North Madhya Maharashtra. South Madhya Maharashtra, East Vidarbha, West Vidarbha are likely to experience scattered rainfall. 

IMD issues warning for fishermen:-

The weather department has predicted squally wind speed of 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph very likely over Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Arabian Sea. It also forecasts squally weather over Northeast Arabian Sea along and off Gujarat coast, South and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and north Andaman Sea. “Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas,” IMD said in a statement.
