Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday took a swipe at the INDIA bloc, saying that the Opposition parties alliance and the Congress party are undermining the essence of democracy in India. Shah accused them of tainting the country’s democracy with corruption, nepotism, appeasement, and caste-based politics.

“If questioned about the INDI alliance, I would characterize it as a coalition of seven dynastic parties. Those unable to institute democracy within their own party will inevitably struggle to uphold the nation’s democratic values. On one side stands the ‘developmental alliance’ led by PM Modi, while on the other, there exists the dynastic alliance led by Rahul Gandhi,” Shah said, speaking during BJP’s two-day national council meeting at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam.

He asserted that PM Modi has called for the liberation of the nation from symbols of colonialism, a call he believes should have been made immediately after independence.

The Union Home Minister also criticised the Congress and the INDI alliance, stating they failed to consider this liberation during their tenure. He pledged that under Modi’s leadership, India will rid itself of terrorism, extremism, and Naxalism in what he terms as “Modi 3,” paving the way for a peaceful and prosperous nation.

“The national council meeting is being organised ahead of the (2024 Lok Sabha) elections. Following this national council meeting, we will go to every constituency with PM Modi’s message of how India would look by 2047. In a few days, people of India will decide who would rule the country for the next five years. There is no doubt that PM Modi will retain power,” he said.

In the span of 75 years, the nation has witnessed 17 Lok Sabha elections, 22 administrations, and 15 Prime Ministers, Shah said. “Each government has endeavoured to foster development according to the needs of the time. Nonetheless, there is unequivocal consensus that significant development has transpired during the Modi government’s tenure over the past decade,” he added.
