With the Lok Sabha polls just a few days away from now, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday sought to shift focus to the Kairana exodus issue by training guns at the erstwhile regime of the Samajwadi Party and BSP. He said that the majority community had to flee Kairana and Shamli during the previous government but BJP brought them back by winning their trust and providing adequate security.
Addressing the media on completion of two years in office, the CM said that the state was infamous for riots and incidents of communal violence but not a single riot happened in the state after the BJP came to power.
He said that during SP and BSP rule, several Hindus had to flee from Kairana, Muzzafarnagar and western Uttar Pradesh, but after BJP formed government in the state, it took the people into confidence and people have returned to their homes.
“In 24 months of our rule, we have brought the confidence back and people have returned to their homes. This has been one of the biggest achievements of the government,” he said. “BJP-led state government has been able to change perception about UP in two years,” Adityanath added.
The Chief Minster also noted that investment in the state has also increased during his regime and UP Sthaapnaa Diwas (Foundation Day) was celebrated for first time after 68 years in 2018.
On law and order situation, Adityanath said that the government has taken a tough stand and situation is fully under control of the administration. “We have adopted zero tolerance towards crime and criminals,” he said.
The BJP stormed to power in the most populous state with a brute majority by winning 325 seats in a 403 chairs Legislative Assembly. In the previous Lok Sabha polls held in 2014, the party won 73 out of 80 seats. This time, the party has claimed that it will at least 74 seats even as it faces the combined might of the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party which could upset the caste calculations.
