Two Special Task Force (STF) constables were killed and four others injured on Thursday in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, Bastar Police has confirmed, ANI reported.

The security personnel who were part of an anti-Naxal operation in the district were returning from a search operation when the pipe bomb exploded.

The blast took place in the forests of Mandimarka in the Tarrem police station area.

The State Task Force’s Chief Constable Bharat Lal Sahu and Constable Sater Singh were martyred on Thursday, India Today reported.

The wounded soldiers — Purushottam Nag, Komal Yadav, Siyaram Sori, and Sanjay Kumar — are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital, and preparations are underway to airlift them to Raipur for better medical care.

Earlier last month, in a similar incident, two CRPF personnel were killed in an IED blast in the Sukma district. The personnel from the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) 201 battalion of the CRPF were going from Silger to Tekulagudem camps on a routine patrol as a part of its Road Opening Party at around 3 pm on a truck and bikes when the truck was blown up by the IED blast.
