At a time when several reports have claimed that people are having trouble in organising their wedding functions due to the cash crunch after demonetisation of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, an IAS couple has set an excellent example by getting married for just Rs 500.
The Rs 500 they spent on the wedding was their fee to the ADM court in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh. MP cadre IAS officer Ashish Vashishta is presently posted as the SDM in Gohad while his love interest is posted as SDM in Vijayawada. Both of them had cleared the IAS exam in 2013 and they came closer during their training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
Ashish had earlier applied for the wedding in Bhind ADM court. They received a date on November 28. The couple reached the ADM court with their respective family members on Monday and completed legal formalities of the wedding. The couple said they wanted a simple wedding.
“They wanted to get married and it was solemnised in the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) court,” Bhind Collector T Ilaya Raja said.
While Ashish is from Rajasthan, Saloni is from Punjab. Post marriage, Saloni may get Madhya Pradesh cadre as per the rules so that the husband and wife can be together as far as possible, he said. “The marriage was a simple affair. The entire staff wished them on the occasion,” the Collector added.
