Hyderabad Rain: Heavy showers in Hyderabad have brought a number of troubles for the people, especially the office-goers who faced severe difficulties reaching their offices. The Cyberabad Police earlier requested the offices to allow employees work-from-home on Friday due to the inclement weather conditions. 

The India Meteorology Department (IMD) has sounded an alert for more rain and thundershowers in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area.

Roads remained waterlogged, and three flights were also diverted as the severe weather conditions continued to hit daily life in the city. The morning showers brought the city on its knees with areas like Narva in Narayanpet district receiving the highest rainfall at 44.3 mm between 8.30 am to 11 am, followed by 44 mm at Mujahidpur in Vikarabad district, the Telangana Development Planning Society said.

In Hyderabad, 28.5 mm of rain was reported at Dabeerpura, followed by 18 mm of rainfall at Adarshnagar in Qutbullapur. The office-goers woke up to face a harrowing ordeal as roads in the state capital were paralysed by severe waterlogging.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy immediately asked the officials to be fully prepared to deal with the situation arising out of the rains. He has also directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and other civic agencies to swiftly address the waterlogging and traffic issues in the city.

Flights diverted, advisory issued

Due to bad weather in Hyderabad, three flight diversions have occurred so far. IndiGo flights from Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune have been diverted to Vijayawada, reported ANI citing the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Official.

Meanwhile, IndiGo took to X and issued a travel advisory for its passengers. It said the rain has slowed more than just the skies, roads across Hyderabad are experiencing heavier-than-usual traffic. 

“If you’re heading to the airport, we   recommend setting off a bit earlier than usual. 📲 Please check your flight status on our app or website before you travel. 👥 Our teams are doing their best to keep your journey moving as smoothly as possible and are here to assist you at every step.
