MMTS Kacheguda Train Accident Today Updates: Two trains have collided at Kacheguda Railway Station in Telangana on Monday afternoon. According to news agency ANI, an MMTS train, a local train service, and Kurnool City-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity Express collided with each other near Nimboli Adda.
Reports say that the Lingampalli-Falaknuma Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) local train and Intercity Express were moving slowly when the accident occurred. The accident took place on the Secunderabad-Falaknuma section of the South Central Railway zone.
Initial reports say that at least 12 people have suffered injuries in the accident. All the injured passengers have been admitted to Osmanania General Hospital.
“Train No. 47178 Lingampalli-Falaknuma MMTS service derailed due to collission with Train No. 17028 Kurnool City-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity Express at 10:30 AM at Kacheguda Railway Station towards Falaknuma side,” the South Central Railway said in a press release.
Six coaches of the MMTS service and three coaches of Hundry Express derailed in the accident, the release said, adding that 12 passengers suffered injuries in the mishap.
Top officials rushed to the spot to undertake relief and restoration works. Meanwhile, a high-level enquiry will be conducted to ascertain how the two trains collided.
The accident is learned to have occurred due to signaling fault. Train services in Kacheguda-Falaknuma section have been affected, the South Central Railway added. The railway authorities have rescheduled some trains on the route.
Kacheguda railway station is one of the three central stations in Hyderabad, Telangana.
