The Congress on Tuesday slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks on Dr B R Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha, demanding an immediate apology. Shah, during a two-day discussion marking 75 years of the Constitution, accused the Congress of using Ambedkar’s name as a “fashion.”

“Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata (It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar’. If they had taken God’s name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven),” Shah said, taking a dig at the opposition party.
