The Gautam Buddha Nagar police busted a honey-trapping case on Tuesday involving a 38-year-old woman, her daughter, and her niece, along with three associates. The police have arrested the woman along with her three associates. The individuals allegedly operated a gang that honey-trapped men and extorted money by threatening them with false cases.

The ringleader, identified as 38-year-old Kavita Chaudhary from Meerut, used her minor daughter and niece to target individuals for money. Among the associates implicated in the case are Farooq (27) and Vishnu, also known as Damru (19), with Farooq posing as a lawyer.

The case came to the fore after a complaint was filed by 40-year-old Vikram Singh Negi at Surajpur police station. He claimed that he was coerced into paying Rs 1.63 lakh in cash and through Paytm after being threatened under the guise of a meeting with a girl.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), Hirdesh Katheriya, revealed that the woman, Kavita, alongside her partner Farooq, her daughter, niece, and other women, would establish connections with men using missed calls, messages, or social media. Upon meeting, they would escort the victims to secluded areas and then compel them to pay money by threatening false allegations such as sexual harassment or rape.

“They have been doing this work for about six months. During interrogation, it was revealed that in January last year, the woman had submitted a complaint under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act through her minor daughter. Later a settlement was reached after taking money,” said Katheriya.

The police mentioned that Kavita had lodged an additional application at Surajpur police station, accusing a young man employed in her company of molesting her. Subsequently, it was discovered that the mentioned incident was false.

“On 25.10.2023, an application was given against a man at Police Station Beta-2 making serious allegations like rape/abortion. Later, the application was withdrawn after taking around Rs 4 lakh. In relation to which there is evidence/videos etc. Information about other incidents committed by them in the past is being obtained from other police station areas,” said another official, according to The Indian Express.

An FIR has been registered at Surajpur police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 388 (extortion by threat of accusation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
