Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has taken the responsibility of Congress stalwart Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s defeat in the recently-concluded Rajya Sabha election, party’s central observer DK Shivakumar said on Thursday.

Addressing the media here along with party observer Bhupinder Hooda, Shivakumar said after one-to-one meetings with the Congress MLAs and deliberations with Sukhu and state Congress chief Pratibha Singh, all differences have been ironed out.

He also said it has been decided to form a coordination committee to sort out all internal matters, adding that they are asked not to speak to the press directly.

The political crisis in Himachal Pradesh was triggered by cross-voting by six Congress MLAs in Rajya Sabha elections that took place on Tuesday.

Political scene in the state heated up following the resignation of Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh as public works department (PWD) minister after accusing the CM of overlooking MLAs and disrespecting his father and late former CM of the state, Virbhadra Singh, only to press a pause button on Thursday.

As matters escalated, party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday despatched three observers — DK Shivakumar, Bhupesh Baghel and Bhupinder Singh Hooda — to Shimla, and asked them and AICC in-charge for the state Rajeev Shukla to speak to all MLAs, including the disgruntled ones, and submit a comprehensive report to him as soon as possible.
