Election result 2019 Punjab, Haryana: The BJP appears to be heading for a sweep in Haryana where it is leading on all 10 parliamentary seats. However, Punjab is still with the Congress. The grand old party is ahead on 8 out of 13 seats in Punjab. BJP leader Sunny Deol is leading against Congress leader Sunil Jakhar in Gurdaspur. Exit polls had projected 8-10 seats for the BJP in Haryana and 3-5 seats in Punjab.
In Punjab, ten parties are in the contest but the main fight is between the BJP and Congress. Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP too had some edge in the last elections but it is now on a downward spiral. The main contests in the state are Sunny Deol vs Sunil Jakhar in Gurdaspur, Hardeep Singh Puri vs Gurjeet Singh Aujla in Amritsar, Prem Singh Chandumajra vs Manish Tewari in Anandpur Sahib, Sukhbir Singh Badal vs Sher Singh Ghubaya in Ferozpur, Harsimrat Kaur Badal vs Amrinder Singh Raja Warring in Bathinda.

The BJP is ahead on two seats — Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur.
He also said that Sunil Jakhar is a fine candidate who had done a lot of work there. "This is one thing I didn't understand that people gave preference to an actor than to experience," he said.
Captain Amarinder Singh has blamed Navjot Singh Sidhu for the Congress defeat and said: "Indians especially servicemen will not tolerate hugging the Pakistani Army Chief."
