Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, on Sunday, June 23, announced an increase in the annual income limit for creamy layer from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, in line with the Centre. He further announced that the reservation for backward classes in Group-A and Group-B jobs, which is now at 15 per cent, will be enhanced to 27 per cent, in accordance with the Central government’s policy. It is expected that it will provide significant benefits in employment to the OBC category.
Saini made these announcements while addressing attendees at the ‘OBC Morcha Sarv Samaj Samrasta Sammelan’ in Gurugram. The move comes months before the Haryana Assembly elections, which are expected to be held in October this year. “Following the consideration of the Haryana State Backward Classes Commission, this increased limit will be implemented for state government jobs. Besides this, similar to the central government, income from salary and agriculture sources will not be included in this limit,” the CM said.
He also stated that the backlog of Backward Class openings in groups A and B will be addressed on a priority basis, with plans ongoing for a special recruiting campaign. To guarantee that OBC youth have easy access to job prospects, the CM announced that 27 per cent reservation will also be enforced in recruitment through Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam.
The state issues two sorts of certificates to Backward Class members to help them take advantage of government projects, quotas in government positions, and administration in educational institutions. For state government positions, BC certificates are issued, but OBC certificates are issued for central government initiatives.
The Chief Minister stated that the OBC community is not being denied its rights, and that both the national and state governments are constantly launching plans to ensure complete respect and recognition for the OBC community.
He went on to say that the Haryana government is supporting OBC children’s education by offering scholarships ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000 to ensure quality education. The government is also concentrating on skill development for the OBC minority.
