Key constituencies in Haryana elections 2024: Haryana is all set to see high-octane battle between political parties on October 5. The main political parties in fray are the Congress, BJP and AAP. While the BJP aims for a third consecutive term, while Congress, which is contesting 89 seats, is aiming to wrest power from the saffron party. The fate of all the candidates across the 90 Assembly seats will be known on October 8.

Here are the key constituencies to watch out for:

Ladwa Assembly Constituency

Ladwa assembly constituency is one of the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana. It is situated in Kurukshetra district and is one of the nine assembly segments of Kurukshetra Parliament seat. The BJP has fielded incumbent Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from the seat who is all set to take on sitting MLA and Congress candidate Mewa Singh. The constituency was carved out in 2009, and no party has won it twice. The AAP has fielded Joga Singh from the seat. The constituency was carved out in 2009 and no party has got won it for a second consecutive term.

In the 2019 Assembly election, Congress’s Mewa Singh won, in 2014, Dr Pawan Saini from the BJP secured the seat, and in the 2009 Assembly elections, Sher Singh Barshami of the INLD party had won.

Julana Assembly Constituency

The Julana Assembly seat is one of the most hyped constituencies in the state in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections. Julana assembly constituency is one of the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana. It is a General category assembly seat, which is situated in Jind district and is one of the 9 assembly segments of Sonipat Parliament seat.

In this election, Congress has fielded wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat, who, along with Bajrang Punia, joined the Congress just hours before the announcement on September 6. Julana is the hometown of Vinesh’s in-laws. She is pitted against BJP’s Captain Yogesh Bairagi, who is a former commercial pilot and current vice president of Haryana’s BJP youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). Meanwhile, the AAP has nominated former WWE star Kavita Dalal.

In the 2019 Assembly election, Amarjeet Dhanda contesting from JNJP party had won the polls, while in 2014 and 2009 polls, INLD candidate Parminder Singh Dhull secured the seat.

Garhi Sampla-Kiloi Assembly Constituency

Garhi Sampla-Kiloi assembly constituency is a General category assembly seat. Situated in Rohtak district, it is one of the nine assembly segments of Rohtak Parliament seat.

Congress has fielded former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who will enter the electoral battle with BJP candidate Manju Hooda, who is the current chairperson of the Rohtak Zila Parishad. The AAP has fielded Pravin Guskhani from the seat.

The seat is a Bhupinder Hooda stronghold, who won the seat in 2019, 2014 as well as 2009 Assembly elections. In the 2019 Assembly elections, Hooda had defeated his nearest rival BJP candidate Satish Nandal by over 58,000 votes.

Uchana Kalan Assembly Constituency

Uchana Kalan assembly constituency situated in Jind district is one of the nine assembly segments of Hisar Parliament seat.

In the 2024 Assembly elections, ex-Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala of the Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) and great-grandson of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal is contesting from the seat. The Congress has fielded former IAS officer Brijendra Singh, while AAP has fielded Pawan Fauji. The BJP has nominated Devender Attri from the seat.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, JNJP candidate Dushyant Chautala has secured the seat, while in 2014 elections, BJP candidate Prem Lata had won from the seat. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Om Parkash Chautala from INLD party had bagged the seat.

Gurgaon Assembly Constituency

From the Gurgaon assembly constituency, the Congress has nominated Mohit Grover, a young Punjabi candidate with deep party roots, who narrowly lost the last polls as an independent candidate. The BJP has fielded Mukesh Sharma, while AAP has fielded Nishant Anand.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, Sudhir Singla of the BJP won the polls, BJP candidate Umesh Aggarwal won the seat in 2014 polls and in 2009, Independent candidate Sukhbeer had won from the seat.

Ellenabad Assembly Constituency

From the Ellenabad seat in Sirsa district, senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala is seeking re-election. The BJP has fielded district president of Sirsa Amir Chand Mehta, while AAP has nominated Manish Arora from the seat.

In the 2019 Assembly polls, Abhay Singh Chautala won the seat by just nearly 12,000 votes defeating his nearest rival and BJP candidate Pawan Beniwal.

Rewari Assembly constituency:

Dominated by the Yadav community, the seat is key to the politics of south Haryana and has been a seat which has witnessed dynastic politics for decades. The seat is currently represented by Chirajeev Rao, son of Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, a six-time MLA.

The Congress has nominated Chiranjeev Rao, while the Congress has fielded Lakshman Singh Yadav from the seat and AAP has fielded Satish Yadav from the Assembly seat.
