Ten persons travelling in a car, including a child, died after their speeding vehicle crashed into a stationary truck on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway. The accident happened near Nadiad town in Kheda district of Gujarat on Wednesday.
According to Kheda Superintendent of Police Rajesh Gadhiya, the Maharashtra-registered truck had halted due to a mechanical issue, occupying the left lane. The truck was on its way to Jammu from Pune when it developed a snag near Nadiad, according to the cop.
The car, en route from Vadodara to Ahmedabad, collided with the truck from the rear, instantly claiming eight lives. Two others, initially surviving the impact, succumbed to injuries later.
The victims hailed from various cities in Gujarat, with only four identified at the time of the incident.
