Following the construction of the new Parliament Building, an action plan has been implemented for the landscaping and beautification of the Parliament Complex to enhance its grandeur and attractiveness, befitting the high dignity and decorum of Parliament, according to Lok Sabha Secretariat press release.
Statues of eminent leaders and freedom fighters, who played pivotal roles in our nation’s independence, cultural and spiritual renaissance, and the strengthening of its democratic journey post-independence, have been installed throughout the Parliament Complex. These revered figures, through their lives, philosophies, and work, championed tribal pride and paved the way for the upliftment of marginalised and deprived communities. They serve as eternal inspirations for both present and future generations.
However, the dispersed locations of these statues made it difficult for visitors to view them conveniently. To address this, all statues are being respectfully relocated to a grand “Prerana Sthal” within the Parliament House Complex. This Prerana Sthal is designed to allow visitors easy access to these statues, enabling them to draw inspiration from the lives and philosophies of these great leaders, the release mentioned.
The Prerana Sthal will also feature modern technology to provide detailed information about the lives and contributions of our great freedom fighters, offering visitors a deeper understanding and appreciation of their legacy. This will also serve as a place for visitors to pay their tributes to these esteemed leaders.
It is important to note that the Parliament House Complex falls under the jurisdiction of the Honourable Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Statues have been relocated within the Complex in the past with the Speaker’s permission. No statue of any great leader has been removed from the Complex; rather, they are being systematically and respectfully installed within the Parliament House Complex, as per the release.
