Goa Municipal Election 2021 Results News Updates: Goa BJP chief Sadanand Shet Tanavade has congratulated party workers of two municipalies — Sanguem and Quepem — for party’s victory. “Congratulations to Team #Sanguem & #Quepem on their impressive victory! The results show peoples re-endorsement of leadership and trust in @BJP4Goa. My best wishes to the newly elected councillors in their new responsibilities and the challenges of the ward they are elected,” he said.
Counting of votes for five — Mapusa, Margao, Mormugao, Sanguem and Quepem — municipal councils is currently underway. In Margao, Goa Forward-backed candidates won in five seats while the BJP supported candidates emerged victorious in rest three seats.
Voting for these councils in Goa were held on April 23. As many as 402 candidates were in the fray for five councils. A total of 1,85,225 voters were eligible to cast their votes.
While elections were not fought on party symbols, all political parties, including BJP, Congress and Goa Forward Party have fielded their panels. The Goa Forward Party has forged an alliance with the Congress in Margao municipal council, while it fights against the BJP-led panel.

Margao Municipal Council results: So far, results for five of eight seats have been declared and all have been bagged by Goa Forward Party. Francisco Jonas has won from ward 1, Johnny Crasto from ward 2, Lyndon Pereira from ward 3, Pooja Naik from ward 4, and Sweta Lotlikar from ward 5.
Margao Municipal Council: BJP-backed candidates have won in two wards, 6 and 8. Former vice chairperson Sadanand Naik won from ward number 6 and Camilo Barreto won from ward number 8.

Mormugao municipal council results: BJP-backed six candidates won from ward 1 to 6 in Mormugao
Goa Municipal Election: The ruling BJP won majority in five out of six municipal councils in Goa where elections were held on March 20. The party also won majority in the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) where election was held on the same day. While the elections were not fought on party lines, the BJP as well as the Congress had fielded panels led by their members. Panaji MLA and BJP leader Atanasio Monserratte’s panel won 25 out of 30 seats in the CCP which governs the state capital.
The ruling party’s panels also won in Canacona, Curchorem, Bicholim, Valpoi and Pernem municipal councils, while a Congress-led panel won majority only in Cuncolim municipal council.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said people have once again placed their faith in the BJP. “Though the elections were not fought on party lines, the panels fielded by the party won with majority,” he said, adding that the BJP will form ruling bodies in all these municipal councils and the CCP. (PTI)
Goa Municipal Election result 2021: Reports suggest that a deputy collector has urged all contesting candidates to refrain from organising any rally, procession or meeting after counting of votes. He has said that no permission shall be issued for such rallies and any contravention will be viewed seriously.
