At least five people, including a five-month-old baby, were killed and 15 were injured after a private double-decker bus rammed into a truck on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh.

The accident took place in the Tappal police station area late on Wednesday night when the bus was heading towards Azamgarh from Delhi, ANI reported.

The bus rammed into the truck from behind. The impact shattered the bus, trapping bodies and passengers inside.

The locals rescued the injured by breaking the bus windows. They were rushed to Kailash Hospital in Jewar for treatment. Meanwhile, three bodies have been identified, while the two remain unidentified, India Today reported.

The bus belonged to Krishna Travels, a company based in Faizabad.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
