A major fire broke out at a battery godown located in Chandi Chowk market in West Bengal’s Kolkata on Sunday evening. At least 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
“At approximately 7 pm, a fire erupted in a building with an upstairs battery storage facility, possibly due to a short circuit,” stated a nearby resident.
Firefighters swiftly arrived on the scene and the blaze was brought under control within a few hours of firefighting operations.

Ratan Kumar Haldhar, Deputy Director, Fire Department, stated that the fire was brought under control with 15 fire tenders rushing to the spot to extinguish the fire. “There is still a little bit of smoke and efforts are being made to control it,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
