Seven members of a family were found dead inside a car parked near a deserted plot in Panchkula. As per the Police, the deceased have been identified as  Deshraj Mittal and his wife, their son Praveen Mittal and his wife, and Praveen’s two teenage daughters and a son.

The probe,so far, points at poisoning as the primary cause of their death with the alleged cause found to be suicide. An anonymous call from was received around midnight about suspicious activity in Sector 27. Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police Himadri Kaushik, said, “Prima facie, it appears to be a matter of suicide. However, further investigations are on.”

Eyewitness reported ‘people in car motionless’

A local youth said he was out for a walk last night when he spotted the Dehradun-registered car parked on a road with a towel hanging out from one of its doors.He went close and found six people in the car motionless, lying on each other with vomit on them. The seventh he found breathing with difficulty, yet managed to tell him that his family was under huge debt and that he was going to die.

Police intervention

The six people were rushed to a private hospital nearby, while one was taken to a civil hospital. All seven members were found dead after one members died on the way to the hospital. “Forensic team has reached the spot” revealed DCP Kaushik as they continue “analysing and scanning the car” to find probable reasons behind the incident. However, the facts currently pointed towards a case of suicide.

“At the moment, we are investigating the case from all angles. We are questioning the people in the area and going through the CCTV footage,” DCP (Crime), Panchkula, Amit Dahiya told PTI. Upon further investigation, the relatives mentioned how the Mittal family recently moved back to Panchkula after spending several years in Dehradun.
