Former Karnataka Director General of Police Om Prakash was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, on Sunday, police confirmed.
The 68-year-old retired IPS officer was discovered with visible injuries on his body, prompting speculation that he may have been murdered, officials said. Senior police officers who arrived at the scene said they are investigating all angles, with initial suspicion pointing toward the possible involvement of a close family member.
A native of Champaran in Bihar, Om Prakash was a 1981-batch officer and held a Master’s degree in Geology. He was appointed as the state’s top cop on March 1, 2015, and served with distinction during his tenure.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. A full-scale investigation is currently underway.
