An empty coach of a train derailed between Elphinstone and Lower Parel Railway station in the early morning hours of Tuesday causing diversion of trains. No injuries were reported.
The Western Line of Mumbai Suburban Railway was affected due to the coach derailment. “Empty coach between L Parel-Elphinsten Road has been derailed. Service expected to be normalized in next 1-2 hrs,” tweeted the Railway Ministry’s Twitter handle.
“Extra buses have been deployed by BEST between Mahim to CCG for commuters in affected section besides services on fast line,” the ministry said. “Slow trains are being diverted on fast lines for Churchgate from Mahim as fast lines are fully operational,” the Twitter handle said.
