Two Delhi University colleges, Lady Shri Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College, received bomb threats on Thursday (May 23). The Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Police swiftly responded to the calls, arriving at the colleges to ensure safety and investigate the threats.

After thorough checks, the Delhi Police declared the bomb threats to be false. “Some calls were received regarding bomb threats in colleges. All are bogus calls. No need to worry,” ANI quoted the police as saying.

This incident follows a bomb threat on May 22 in the North Block, that houses the Ministry of Home Affairs’ office, which also turned out to be a hoax.

The bomb scares at Lady Shri Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College come shortly after numerous schools in Delhi-NCR, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh and Bengaluru received similar threats via email. These threats, which caused widespread panic, were all found to be baseless.

Earlier this week, the Delhi Police revealed that the bomb threat emails sent to approximately 150 schools in Delhi-NCR earlier this month were suspected to have originated from Budapest, Hungary.
