At least 12 people were dead and 14 were injured as a bus carrying employees of a firm in Chhattisgarh’s Durg overturned and fell down into a ditch, ANI reported. President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi expressed grief over the unfortunate accident.
PM Modi posted on his official X handle, “The bus incident which took place in Durg, Chhattisgarh is extremely sad, my empathy with those who lost their loved ones in this accident. Along with this, I hope for the betterment of the injured people. The local administration as well as the state government are assisting people in all available means.”
Meanwhile, President Murmu also expressed sorrow over the incident and posted on her X account, ‘’The information about the bus accident in which many people were killed in Durg District of Chhattisgarh is very disheartening. My deepest condolences to all the grieving families! I wish for the speed recovery of the people who got harmed in this incident.’’
The passengers who were travelling on the bus were workers from the firm Kedia Distillery. The injured from the incident have been admitted to the hospital, ANI quoted Durg Collector Richa Prakash Choudhary as saying.
Out of the 14 injured people, 12 have been referred to AIIMS Raipur and the rest are being treated at the local private hospital. The best possible treatment has been provided to the injured and all of them are in stable condition, the collector stated.
Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai has also expressed grief over the incident and said that he is saddened after knowing about the accident. An appropriate arrangement has been made for the employees who all have been injured in the incident, the CM said.
On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Vijay Sharma has also paid visit to the injured in the accident at AIIMS Raipur. Deputy CM Sharma said that the workers were on their way to their company on a bus when the incident took place. There are some ditches which are around 20 feet deep on both sides of the road and the drivers have been travelling on this road since last 20 years but this time the bus lost its control and fell down, he said.
