In another tragic case of drunk driving, a speeding car killed a woman and injured four others on Thursday evening in Vadodara, Gujarat. The incident occurred near the Amrapali complex and was recorded on the CCTV.
A video from the crash site has surfaced, showing the heavily intoxicated driver exiting the car after the accident. Despite the injured people lying on the ground, he was heard shouting “another round” while bystanders attempted to restrain him, a PTI report said.
The accident, as per a PTI report, happened around 12.30 am near Muktanand cross roads in the Karelibaug area following which the driver, identified as Rakshit Chaurasiya, was arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya said.
The CCTV footage shows Chaurasiya driving the car, which crashed into a two-wheeler. The woman riding the scooter died at the scene, and the injured were taken to the hospital. The deceased woman who was riding the scooter, has been identified as Hemali Patel, the report said.
Chaurasiya, hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi area and is a law student. He lives in a PG accommodation in Vadodara, Momaya told PTI.
She further added that the car belonged to Chaurasiya’s friend Mit Chauhan, who was also sitting in besides the driver’s seat when Chaurasiya hit the two-wheelers at full speed.
Chaurasiya, who seems confused, keeps shouting, “Another round? Another round?”. The viral video also shows people beating him up and then handing him over to the police.
In the CCTV footage, the black speeding car is seen hitting two scooters, knocking the riders down, and dragging them before stopping.
