Ahead of his much-anticipated concert in Hyderabad on Friday evening, Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh received a legal notice from the Telangana government, urging him to avoid performing songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence.

This notice, sent by the District Welfare Officer of the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens in Rangareddy, follows a complaint from a Chandigarh resident who submitted video evidence.

The complaint alleged that during Diljit’s recent shows at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26 and 27, he performed songs such as “CASE,” “Panchatara,” and “Patiala Pegg,” which the resident claimed promoted alcohol, drugs, and violence.

“As cited by the representative with video evidence that you have sung songs promoting alcohol, drugs and violence promoting songs (CASE, Panchatara, Patiala Pegg, ) during a live show in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on 26th and 27th of October. Therefore we are issuing this notice in advance to deter promoting Alcohol/Drugs/Violence through songs in your live show,” the notice read, ANI reported.

The notice also raised concerns about children being involved on stage. Although concert guidelines allow kids under 13 to attend, the notice highlighted the potential risks of loud music and flashing lights for young attendees.

Diljit’s ‘Dil-Luminati’ concert is set for 7 pm at GMR Arena on Airport Approach Road, and fans are buzzing with excitement. In true Diljit style, he’s already explored a bit of Hyderabad, visiting a Shiva temple and a gurudwara for blessings ahead of the show.

The Hyderabad concert is part of his ongoing ‘Dil-Luminati Tour 2024,’ which kicked off in New Delhi last month and then lit up Jaipur with his electric performance.
