The government on Friday removed the Z-plus security cover provided by Government to self-proclaimed godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, ANI quoted Haryana Chief Secretary Depinder Singh Dhesi as saying. The Haryana Chief Secretary added that Gurmeet Ram Rahim is getting the same treatment as others in the jail. “The moment Ram Rahim Singh was arrested, his Z-plus security stood automatically withdrawn,” Dhesi was quoted as saying by ANI. “Ram Rahim Singh is being treated and given food in the same manner as other prisoners get,” Dhesi added. Dhesi also revealed the details of 28 deaths which took place during violent clashes between Ram Rahim supporters and security agencies in Panchkula. He said 24 men, 3 women, and a child have died in the violence. Apart from Panchkula, three deaths have been reported from Sirsa.
The Chief Secretary also said that out of 28 people, none is a local resident of Panchkula district. “People who are injured are not local Panchkula residents, not even one. The identity of the deceased people is being established, no local resident has come up to claim the bodies,”Depinder Singh said.
Earlier in the day, Haryana government ordered a search of all congregation centers belonging to the Dera Sacha Sauda in the state, PTI reported. “We have ordered a search of all ‘naam charcha ghars’ (congregation centres) of the Dera Sacha Sauda wherever located in Haryana,” state Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Ram Niwas told PTI. “We have asked security personnel to conduct searches at all Dera centers thoroughly and seize any weapons found,” he added.
