The national capital hit a high of 35.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, slightly above the seasonal average, following a humid day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported. The IMD has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for the city, forecasting light to moderate rainfall over the next two days.

For Wednesday, the IMD predicts generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to range between 32 and 27 degrees Celsius, with relative humidity fluctuating between 66% and 82%.

Heavy rainfall likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal 

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy to very heavy showers, is expected over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next five days. The plains of northwest and east India will also experience significant rainfall over the next three days.

Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations in Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana on August 7. Very heavy rainfall is forecasted for isolated areas in East Madhya Pradesh on August 7. Additionally, isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Himachal Pradesh on August 7 and 10, West Uttar Pradesh on August 7, and Uttarakhand on August 7, 9, and 10.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also anticipated over Jammu and Kashmir on August 7, and 10; Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan from August 7 to 12; Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh on August 7, and 10; West Rajasthan on August 7 and 10 to 12; and West Uttar Pradesh from August 7 to 8 and on August 11 and 12.
