The Delhi Police has issued an advisory concerning traffic restrictions and diversions on Tuesday (April 23) due to the Hanuman Janmotsav celebration in the central part of the city. According to the official statement, the festival is being celebrated by the Hanuman Mandir Committee at Hanuman Mandir located on Baba Kharak Singh Marg near Connaught Place.
The statement stated that during the day, a gathering of around 50,000 to 60,000 devotees is expected, while a shobha yatra will also be carried out from 3 pm to 6 pm with as many as 1,000-1,500 participants along with seven raths, potentially affecting traffic on surrounding roads.
Traffic advisory for Central Delhi
As per the advisory, no vehicles will be allowed to halt or park on Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Outer CC, Connaught Place to ensure smooth traffic management in the vicinity. Vehicles found parked on these roads will be towed away and prosecuted according to the law.
Furthermore, traffic will be diverted from Outer CC Baba Kharak Singh Marg, roundabout GPO, roundabout Patel Chowk, and roundabout Windsor Place.
Routes to avoid in Delhi today
The advisory also recommended avoiding roundabout GPO to Outer CC, Baba Karak Singh Marg, outer CC Connaught Place, Panchkuiyan Road, Mandir Marg, Kali Badi Marg, Ashok Road, and Janpath.
Those heading towards ISBT, railway stations, or airports are advised to plan their travel in advance, the advisory added.
Delhi traffic police urged the commuters to cooperate by avoiding or bypassing these roads and to make maximum use of public transport.
