The Delhi police arrested a minor after he hit and dragged a 32-year-old man to death in road accident in Delhi’s Samaypur Badli area. According to CCTV footage obtained, the teenager driving a red car, dragged victim Sujeet Mandal for nearly 600 metres, police said on Saturday.

Mandal was a resident of Raja Vihar and worked at a PVC pipe factory in the Badli Industrial Area. According to his brother-in-law Jitesh, Mandal was returning from work on August 23 evening when the accident took place.

CCTV reveals horrific details

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar said Mandal was hit by a red car around 7 pm near his workplace. CCTV footage later revealed the chilling sequence of events. Mandal got stuck under the bonnet of the vehicle after the car ran over him. He was then dragged across a stretch of 600 metres and eventually dumped near the NDPL office gate.

“Despite knowing the victim was trapped beneath the car, the driver briefly halted and then drove on,” the police said. Mandal’s badly injured body was recovered at the site and he was immediately rushed to Burari Hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Further investigation underway

Police has registered FIR No. 852/2025 at Samaypur Badli police station under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. CCTV footage helped police trace the vehicle through its number plate to a residence in Mandoli, northeast Delhi.

The teenager behind the wheel was apprehended and the car has been seized. Authorities are probing further to ascertain how the minor gained access to the vehicle and whether adults in the household may face charges for negligence.
