Trouble mounted for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena recommended a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the allegations of “fake” diagnostic tests prescribed by the Mohalla clinics to benefit private labs, Delhi L-G office said on Thursday.
After Saxena ordered a CBI probe into the alleged supply of drugs to Delhi government hospitals that had failed “quality standard tests”, ‘fake laboratory tests on ghost patients’ have now marred the Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics.
As per media reports, payments have been made to private labs against lakhs of fake tests.

Furthermore, according to the L-G’s office, fake/non-existent mobile numbers were used to mark the entry of patients.
“Last year, it emerged that doctors were not coming to mohalla clinics but were still shown as present. It was found that despite their absence, tests and medicines were being prescribed. Later, it was found that tests were conducted on ghost patients. Following this, a CBI probe has been recommended,” a source said, PTI reported.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson RP shed light on the 2021 incident when three children ‘died due to cough syrup prescribed at mohalla clinic’. “Fake Test, Fake Medicines & Deaths bcoz of wrong Prescriptions (sic),” he posted on X.
L-G Saxena had last month recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged supply of drugs that “failed quality standard tests” and had the “potential of endangering lives” to hospitals run by the city government.

The drugs that were found to be of “sub-standard quality” included critical life-saving antibiotics used for the treatment of lung and urinary tract infections — Cephalexin — according to officials.
