Delhi Lieutenant General, VK Saxena has recommended an NIA probe against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly receiving political funding from the banned terrorist organization “Sikhs for Justice”

As per LG’s letter to the home ministry, he had received a complaint that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had received a big amount – USD 16 million – from the extremist Khalistani groups for facilitating the release of Devendra Pal Bhullar and espousing the Pro-Khalistani sentiments.

The complainant was Ashoo Mongia, National General Secretary, World Hindu Federation India, as mentioned in the letter. Originally, LG’s office received the complaint on April 1, 2024.

As per the LG’s recommendation letter to home ministry, Ashoo Mongia has submitted the enclosed letter, a pen drive along with print out of a few photos which were posted on X by  Munish Kumar Raizada, former worker of Aam Aadmi Party.

In his communication, the complainant has referenced the contents of a video stored on an enclosed pen drive, purportedly featuring Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, identified as a Khalistani terrorist and founder of the banned organization Sikhs For Justice.

Allegedly, in the video, it is claimed that the (AAP received a significant amount of $16 million in funding from Khalistani groups between 2014 and 2022.

Furthermore, it is alleged that a secret meeting took place in 2014 between Kejriwal and pro-Khalistani Sikhs at Gurudwara Richmond Hills, New York. It is purported that during this meeting, Kejriwal promised to facilitate the release of Devender Pal Bhullar in exchange for substantial financial support from Khalistani factions to the Aam Aadmi Party, as detailed in LG’s letter.

The complainant has cited tweets from Platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), where Munish Kumar Raizada, a former AAP worker, shared a picture of Arvind Kejriwal with Sikh leaders at Richmond Hill Gurudwara, New York, in 2014.

As per the letter, Raizada confirmed in his tweets that Kejriwal not only attended public meetings but also held a closed-door session with Pro-Khalistani Sikh Leaders at the same venue

The complaint also refers to a letter from Kejriwal to former President Pranab Mukherjee seeking clemency for Bhullar, enclosed with a copy of the letter dated 27.01.2014, where Kejriwal assured full justice and mentioned the Delhi Government’s recommendation for Bhullar’s release and other related actions, as reported widely in the media. This action came in response to Iqbal Singh’s fast at Jantar Mantar, demanding written assurance for Bhullar’s release, which ended after he received the letter from Kejriwal.

The complainant has urged for a thorough investigation into the allegations of Aam Aadmi Party’s funding by the extremist group Justice for Sikhs.

Davinder Pal Singh Bhullar was convicted in the 1993 Delhi bomb blast case, which resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to 31 others in a blast outside the Youth Congress headquarters in Delhi. He was apprehended after deportation from Germany.

Since 1995, Bhullar has been incarcerated in Tihar jail. Initially sentenced to death by a designated Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court in August 2001, his capital punishment was commuted to a life sentence in 2014.
