BJP vs AAP Jat seats Delhi Elections 2025: The BJP has returned to power in Delhi after 27 years, defeating Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The BJP is all set to win 48 seats out of 70 seats. Results are yet to be out for all seats.

Of all the 70 seats, there were some high-profile seats catching everyone’s attention. One such seat was the New Delhi constituency, where the BJP’s Jat leader Parvesh Singh Verma defeated former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Parvesh Singh is the son of former BJP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma.

Though New Delhi is not a Jat-dominated seat, the BJP has still fielded a strong Jat leader like Parvesh Verma against Kejriwal, which itself shows how the BJP wanted to win back the confidence of the Jat community, which in the previous two Delhi elections voted in favor of the AAP. However, in Lok Sabha polls, the Jat community kept voting for the BJP, playing a major role in giving the saffron party a decisive edge over the AAP and the Congress.

Even though the BJP chose Parvesh for a seat where Jat votes don’t matter much, it sent a signal to Jat voters how the BJP looked at them for winning the Delhi elections. There are around 10 Jat-dominated seats in Delhi. Let’s take a look at who’s leading and who’s trailing on these 10 seats.

Mehrauli

In the Jat-influenced seat of Mehrauli, Gajendra Yadav of the BJP won by 1,786 votes. He defeated AAP’s Mahendra Chowdhary who received 46,567 votes.

Najafgarh

Another Jat-dominated seat is Najafgarh, where Neelam Pahalwan of the BJP won by 29,009 votes against her key opponent Tarun Kumar of the AAP. The AAP was polled 72,699 votes in this seat.

Bijwasan

Bijwasan, another Jat-influenced seat, has been in focus as Kailash Gahlot, who was a big name in the Kejriwal government and switched sides a few months ago by joining the BJP, has won by 11,276 votes against Surendra Bharadwaj of the AAP.

Palam

In Palam constituency, a key seat where Jats are in significant numbers, Kuldeep Solanki of the BJP won by a margin of 8,952 votes against Joginder Solanki of the AAP. The AAP was polled 73,094 votes in this seat.

Matiala

In the Matiala seat, Sandeep Sehrawat of the BJP was leading by over 27,000 votes against Somesh Shaukeen of AAP.

Vikaspuri

The Jat-influenced Vikaspuri seat also appears to be going to the BJP, as Pankaj Singh is leading by 8,165 votes against Mahendra Yadav AAP.

Nangloi Jat

In the Nangloi Jat seat, Manoj Kumar Shokeen of the BJP won against Raghuvinder Shokeen of AAP by a margin of 26,252 votes.

Narela

The Narela seat has gone to the BJP, with its candidate Raj Karan Khatri winning by 8,596 votes against Sharad Kumar of the AAP.

Mundka

In the Mundka seat, which is also a Jat-influenced constituency, Gajender Drall of the BJP won by 10,550 votes against Jasbir Karala of the AAP.

Rithala

Another Jat-dominated sea is Rithala, where Kulwant Rana of the BJP won by 29,616 votes against Mohinder Goyal of the AAP.

As we can see all these 10 Jat-dominated seats appear to be going to the BJP, at least for now as per trends, the question is what went against the AAP and Kejriwal and what worked in favour of the BJP.

As mentioned above, until now for the last 10 years, the Jats voted for the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls and for the AAP in the assembly polls. So the pattern says that it was not that the Jat community was against any of these parties. The one thing that probably worked in favor of the BJP was that it fielded a strong Jat leader, Parvesh Varma, against the tallest AAP leader, Kejriwal.

This move by the BJP is a strong signal to the Jat community how significant they are for the party. This also instills confidence in the Jat community that their demands, including for reservation, will be met if the BJP returns to power in Delhi. Though Kejriwal in his recent speeches in the run-up to the Delhi elections raised the reservation issue for Jats prominently.
