Manish Sisodia, a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, launched an online crowdfunding platform on Monday, seeking financial contributions from the public to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Sisodia, who has represented the Patparganj constituency since 2015, has been fielded this time to contest from the Jangpura constituency.
In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Sisodia appealed to the people for their financial support, emphasizing that his past electoral successes had been made possible by the contributions of the public. He expressed his hope that this time as well, he would receive the necessary financial backing to campaign effectively. “Every time I contested elections and achieved success because of your financial support. This time too, I want your financial support for my election,” he said.
As part of his campaign, Sisodia uploaded a video to the campaign that narrates how he came from being a journalist to being one of the top politicians. He made an appeal by saying, “Every rupee you donate will help advance the politics of work and education in Delhi.” He reminded the people through the press conference that they were also the source of finance to help him continue in furthering the cause of education and governance in the city.
To amplify his message, AAP launched a hashtag on X, “#MS4Jangpura,” encouraging people to come together and back Sisodia’s election campaign. Additionally, a blue and yellow poster with the message “Support and Fund Manish Sisodia” was released, promoting the crowdfunding effort.
Earlier in the day, Sisodia visited the Aggarwal Dharamshala in Jangpura to attend a Khatushyam jagran, a religious event. He also visited Nizamuddin Basti and paid his respects at the Dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. He expressed his commitment to addressing the concerns of the people living in the slums of the area and emphasized the importance of collaboration with the community for the development of the region. “Listening to the problems of the people of the slum and working on their suggestions is our priority,” Sisodia wrote, underscoring the trust and partnership between the people and the government.
The Delhi Assembly elections are slated for February next year, and Sisodia’s campaign is expected to focus heavily on education, governance, and community-driven progress.
