BJP Manifesto for Delhi Elections: With less than two weeks remaining before the Delhi Assembly elections, senior BJP leader Amit Shah unveiled the party’s promises in its election manifesto, including a plan to clean the Yamuna river in three years, grant full ownership rights to residents of 1,700 unauthorised colonies, and introduce welfare measures for gig workers and labourers.
Shah criticised AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of failing to deliver on past promises, and emphasised that “getting rid of liars and betrayers” was the key issue in this election.
The BJP’s manifesto also includes provisions for free travel up to Rs 4,000 annually for needy students in Delhi Metro under the National Common Mobility Card scheme.
The Union minister, who released the final section of the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ for the February 5 polls, assured that if the party wins, residents of 1,700 unauthorised colonies would receive full ownership rights over their properties, enabling them to sell, purchase, or construct.
Shah reaffirmed that the BJP would not halt ongoing welfare initiatives for the poor in Delhi. Additionally, the manifesto promises the creation of a gig workers welfare board, providing Rs 10 lakh insurance and Rs 5 lakh accident cover to gig workers.
The BJP also plans to fill 50,000 government posts in a transparent manner, create 20 lakh self-employment opportunities, and develop a grand Mahabharat corridor.
Shah emphasised the Centre’s investment in Delhi’s infrastructure, citing Rs 41,000 crore spent on roads, Rs 15,000 crore on railway lines, and Rs 21,000 crore on airports. He stated that Delhi would not be as livable without the central government’s investments.
The BJP leader also accused the AAP-led Delhi government of unprecedented corruption, pointing to alleged scams.
