A Delhi court on Thursday issued summons to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not complying with the repeated summons by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the liquor policy scam. The court has summoned Kejriwal to appear on March 16.
The summons by the Rouse Avenue Court was issued on the new complaint filed by the probe agency over noncompliance by the AAP’s national convenor. So far, Kejriwal has skipped eight summons by the ED. The Chief Minister as well as AAP have termed the summons ‘illegal.’
According to a Bar & Bench report, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra has asked the Delhi Chief Minister to remain present before the Court on March 16.
The Enforcement Directorate had filed a new complaint against the Chief Minister on March 6, the Bar & Bench report said. The agency argued that the Chief Minister has been evading the repeated summons. Kejriwal was first issued the summons by the ED on November 2, 2023. Since then, Kejriwal has been issued eight summons. The eighth ED summons was issued on March 4.
