Atishi Oath Ceremony as Delhi CM: AAP leader Atishi is expected to take the oath of office as Delhi Chief Minister at Raj Niwas on Saturday evening, September 21.

The exact timing is yet to be confirmed, as officials are still finalising the gazette notification for outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation and the formation of the new government.

Sources within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suggest the ceremony may take place around 4.30 pm However, it remains unclear whether Atishi will be sworn in alongside her council of ministers, PTI reported.

The event is likely to be low-key, reflecting the party’s sombre mood following Kejriwal’s resignation amid ongoing controversies. An AAP leader noted that the delay in securing approvals has limited preparation time.

Kejriwal resigned on Tuesday, along with his council of ministers, submitting his resignation to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena. The related files have since been sent to President Droupadi Murmu for approval, proposing 21 September for the swearing-in ceremony.

Earlier this week, AAP MLAs unanimously elected Atishi as the leader of the ruling legislature party. The new council of ministers includes Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and first-time MLA Mukesh Ahlawat from Sultanpur Majra. Rai, Gahlot, Bharadwaj, and Hussain were also part of the outgoing government.

Kejriwal, who recently spent over five months in Tihar Jail in connection with an excise policy case, announced his resignation two days after his release on 13 September. He stated he plans to return as Chief Minister after earning a “certificate of honesty” from the people of Delhi in the upcoming assembly elections.
