Suspected Delhi Red Fort blast bomber Dr Umar Nabi’s residence in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, was blown up, according to visuals shared by the Press Trust of India on Friday morning.

After DNA samples from the Delhi blast site matched those of Nabi’s mother, security forces conducted a controlled operation at the Pulwama house in the night between Thursday and Friday.

The November 10 tragedy is now being probed as a terror attack, after the Hyundai i20, which triggered the blast, was linked to Dr Umar Nabi. The Kashmir-based doctor is said to have been behind the wheel of the fatal headline-making vehicle.

Relying on forensic results, a senior police official recently told PTI, “The results conclusively establish that it was Umar who was driving the vehicle that detonated.”

The three key suspects named in connection with the Monday evening blast, which happened just hours after officials recovered 2,900 kg of explosive in Faridabad, are: Dr Umar Nabi, Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Shahid.

Nabi, alongside the other two doctors, has since been named a crucial member of a “white collar” terror module with alleged links to outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Further detailing his purported radical alliance, official said that Umar once had a bright future ahead of him. However, he is then said to have aligned himself with quite a few hard-line message groups on social media.

He reportedly even set up a small group on the Signal platform to coordinate with others during the operation. Police believe that Dr Nabi was given over Rs 26 lakh in cash as funding for the drastic step.
