The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a sharp attack on the Congress Party Thursday, accusing it of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to harm AAP’s prospects in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh held a press conference, alleging that Congress’s actions were undermining the unity of the opposition alliance, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

“We didn’t say a word against Congress during the Haryana elections, yet it seems Congress is following the BJP’s script,” Singh said, adding that the Congress candidate list appeared to have been finalized at the BJP office.

Singh also criticised Congress leaders Ajay Maken and Sandeep Dixit for focusing on attacking AAP instead of the BJP.

He referred to Maken’s recent remark calling Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal “anti-national,” and pointed out that despite Kejriwal’s past support for Congress, he now faces an FIR while Congress has never filed one against any BJP leader.

Atishi echoed Singh’s accusations, suggesting Congress candidates like Sandeep Dixit and Farhad Suri were being supported by the BJP. She questioned Congress’s commitment to the INDIA alliance, claiming this collaboration was undermining AAP.

AAP demanded immediate disciplinary action against Maken and other Congress leaders, warning that if no action is taken within 24 hours, it would push for Congress’s expulsion from the INDIA bloc. “We will ask other alliance parties to remove Congress,” Singh said.

Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February.
