In another big blow to the grand-old party, Professor Gourav Vallabh, a Congress spokesperson who represented the party on TV debates on finance and economy-related issues, resigned from all posts and primary membership of the Congress party on Thursday.

Calling the grand-old party ‘directionless,’ Vallabh, in a letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, cited reasons such as caste census, and said that he cannot raise ‘anti-Sanatan’ slogans.’

“I do not feel comfortable with the directionless way in which the Congress party is moving forward today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatana slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country. I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of the Congress party,” Gourav Vallabh wrote on X.

Gourav Vallabh contested the Rajasthan assembly election from Udaipur constituency in 2023. However, the opposing BJP candidate secured a comfortable win with a margin of over 32,000 votes. BJP’s Tarachand Jain clinched 97,466 votes as compared to Vallabh’s 64,695.

Vallabh’s resignation comes a day after boxer Vijender Singh quit the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi.
