Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the sixth Ramnath Goenka lecture on Monday evening — lashing out at the Congress for “choosing to nurture people who do not believe in the Indian Constitution”. He also reiterated allegations that the Opposition party had embedded ‘urban naxals’ within major institutions and become a warped version of its original iteration.

“For the past five decades, almost every region in India had been affected by Maoists. But unfortunately, the Congress chose to nurture those who do not believe in the Indian Constitution. Congress went on to embed ‘urban naxals’ within major institutions. The urban naxal–Maoist ecosystem that had taken root in the Congress 10–15 years ago has now transformed into the ‘Muslim League Maowadi Congress (MMC)’. And today, I say with full responsibility that the MMC has sidelined national interest for its own political gain,” he alleged.

The remarks echo similar assertions made by the Prime Minister following the NDA victory in Bihar. He had taken repeated digs at the Congress during the address on November 14 — reiterating that people were re-electing the BJP-led NDA government as it signified the establishment of a pro-people, pro-governance, and pro-development agenda.

“The foundation of Congress’ political approach is rooted in negativity. It focuses on raising objectionable slogans, disrupting parliamentary proceedings, attacking key institutions, casting doubt on EVMs, maligning the Election Commission and promoting division along lines of caste and religion. Congress lacks a constructive or forward-looking vision for the nation. In reality, it has transformed into what can be described as MMC: the ‘Muslim League Maoist Congress’,” he had said at the time.

‘Bihar verdict sends a message to all state governments’

Modi also issuing a sharp warning for political leaders across the spectrum — noting that there was a major political lesson to be learnt from the Bihar Assembly election results. The National Democratic Alliance had secured a landslide victory with 202 seats during the recent contest. He contended that the BJP wins elections because it is committed to the development and welfare of the people 24×7.

“From this platform today, I want to send a message to all state governments — irrespective of ideology — the Bihar verdict makes one thing clear: the kind of government you run today will decide your political future,” he warned.
