The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘nowcast rain alert’ for five districts in Tamil Nadu, including Poonamallee, Sholinganallur, Thiruporur, Vandalur, and Tambaram. Residents can expect significant rainfall over the next two to three days as the weather department predicts isolated heavy downpours across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on October 18, 20, and 21.

Additionally, the IMD has warned of precipitation affecting south interior Karnataka until October 22 and parts of Kerala and Mahe on October 22 and 23. An orange alert has been specifically issued for Chennai today, indicating the potential for severe weather conditions.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai forecasts a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms. Temperatures in Chennai are expected to reach a maximum of around 34 degrees Celsius, with a minimum hovering around 24 degrees Celsius.
Authorities are advising residents to stay alert and take precautions due to the anticipated heavy rainfall. The weather department will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
