Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to former Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development case. High Court Advocate Sunkara Krishnamurthy said that Naidu has been granted bail for four weeks, news agency ANI reported.
Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was lodged in the central jail in Rajamahendravaram for his alleged involvement in the skill development scam. He had earlier written a letter to Vijayawada ACB Court special judge seeking fool-proof security in and around the prison premises.
Naidu had sent the letter to the judge through jail authorities on October 25. In the letter, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief outlined a few untoward incidents that occurred in and around the central jail in the recent past causing endangerment to his life and limb.
In addition, he requested that the security measures in jail match the “Z+” level of protection that was granted to him.
Justice T. Mallikarguna Rao heard the arguments that were put forth by Additional Advocate General P Sudhakar Reddy who appeared for the APCID and senior advocates Siddharth Luthra and Dammalapati Srinivas who represented Mr. Naidu.
The letter sent by the former CM Chandrababu Naidu mentioned his prayer to at least be granted interim bail to seek proper treatment for his skin and eye ailments. Naidu was lodged in the Rajahmundry Central Prison on September 10.
Justice Rao pronounced the judgment for Naidu’s interim bail on Tuesday and said that as far as his regular bail petition is concerned, it will be dealt with on a later date.
Former AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has been sent on judicial remand to jail for allegedly being the main conspirator in the skill development scam case. This remand is scheduled to expire on November 1.
