In a major development in the Chandigarh stalking case, accused Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Subhash Barala’s son Vikas Barala has reportedly left for the city to join the police investigation. His father Subhash Barala has assured total cooperation in the probe. Speaking to ANI, he said, “Vikas has left for Chandigarh to join the probe, he will fully cooperate. We respect the law, Vikas has cooperated in the probe earlier as well.” Vikas’ departure for Chandigarh came hours after the police pasted the summon outside Barala’s residence earlier today. Speaking to media, Chandigarh DGP Tejinder Luthra had earlier said, “Vikas Barala refused to accept the notice therefore we have paste the notice on the wall of his residence.”
Luthra also said that the accused including Vikas and his friend Ashish Kumar have refused to give their blood and urine samples and such refusal will be held against them in the investigation and trial.
The Chandigarh Police issued summons to Vikas, who is the main accused in Chandigarh stalking case, asking him to appear before them for further investigation. Vikas along with his friend Ashish have been accused of stalking and chasing 29-year-old Varnika Kundu in an attempt to harass and kidnap her.
Varnika is the daughter of senior Haryana cadre IAS officer V S Kundu. She has accused that both Vikas and Ashish chased her for approximately 30 minutes on the night of August 4. The duo was earlier arrested and booked under section 354 D (stalking) of the IPC and 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act (driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs) but were later granted bail within hours.

The state police has been facing a lot of criticism for their poor investigation. The CCTV footage obtained by the media shows that Vikas and Ashish were chasing Kundu. The video was procured by Chandigarh Police on Tuesday, a day after it was said to be missing.
